Best Practices: Prospecting, Signaling, Messaging

Written by Fabian Matthies

1. Prospecting

Ensure that your prospect pool genuinely aligns with your target audience and keep the status up to date.

When reviewing signals, ask yourself:
Would you actually reach out to this person? If not:

  • Discard the signal

  • Archive the prospect

  • If necessary: Add the prospect to the blacklist (e.g., under the "Prospects" tab in "Import Rules").

If a prospect has responded, update their status accordingly.

2. Signaling

Make sure you are receiving the right signals.

When reviewing signals, check:

  • Does the category fit? If not, deactivate it.

  • Is the category fine-tuned correctly? If needed, adjust the refinement settings.

3. Messaging

Subject Line

Adjust it if necessary – it should generate real interest.

Message Content

Readability:

  • Use a maximum of two lines per paragraph to enhance clarity.

  • A well-structured and readable text increases the chances that the message is actually read.

Content:
Address your target audience’s pain points directly.

Use the following checklist to review your message:
✔ What problem does the customer have?
✔ What questions are they asking themselves?
✔ What do they wish for?
✔ What solution does our company offer?
✔ What measurable value does our solution provide? (e.g., “We helped client XY reduce costs for AB by 30%.”)

Optionally, add a P.S. line with a second call to action (e.g., “If you are not the right contact person, please forward my message.”)

4. Steps for Sending Messages

  1. Send the message.

  2. Like and comment on the prospect’s post (using your own profile).

  3. Visit the prospect’s profile and send a connection request (also from your own account).

Following these steps ensures that your outreach remains effective and engaging! 🚀
